when the birds are sleeping, thats when the trees sing//

sometimes i just can´t stop listening to a song, a band or an album. i think i´m really getting on peoples nerves with my osbession on the three bands that are creating the soundtrack to my spring 2010. i just can´t stop listening, can´t stop talking about them and can´t stop forcing people to start to listen to their tunes as well and of course start to love them at least as much as is do. hahaha. so one more round in my little game called "you have to love them even more":

SEABEAR

the lovely melancholie of sindri már sigfússon makes me just forget everything around me. the music takes me away, to a little dreamland that other bands like to call ochrasy or albion. we call our treasureland seaberia. oh, how i´d would love to spent my lifetime in beautiful seaberia.

Seabear: i´ll build you a fire from morr music on Vimeo.

wanna come with me?

you left your winter clothes,
and your teeth marks in my skin

so shake the leaves, off the trees,
watch them float down the stream
your son, your daughter
swimming in the water

and I miss you, even when you're around
I'm a black cloud,
sending lightning to the ground

darling please, show your teeth
just one more dance to help me sleep
oh girl, cold water eyes
fill the past with friendly nights
human skin, can be hard to live in
you'll feel better in the morning
wash your hands in the lake
you've got a heart

trails lost in the snow
make way for winter's eerie glow
and that black rock in your bedroom
I hope you'll climb it soon
in your boat, tied to a tree
I hope you'll find the sea

throw me a dream please, it's been a dreamless sleep
for such a long time, such a long time
sing myself awake
watch the branches break
no one could ever take your place

wash your face in the lake
you've got a diamond under your skin

the second band that really makes my days right now is - surprise - a danish band. the observing readers may have discovered my deep love for danish music by now. if not, there will be some chances in the next couple of weeks to learn more about this great musiccountry and its amazing artists, as i am finally going to visit denmark in may. yay!

but here we go, i want to introduce you - again - to the charming guys of TURBOWEEKEND and the lovely WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE...

don´t deny me this pleasure, please.

TURBOWEEKEND

seems to me, that mixing indierock and electronic music is not a revolution anymore and i know that there are thousands and thousands of bands who describe their sound exactly like this, but: no one does it as god as the danish bands. i love their fresh and organic way to electronic music and i really think no one does it better than TURBOWEEKEND and of course WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE.

if you’ve been moonlighted I don’t need to know
just stand beside me now. Come with me when I go
a perfect match lights a perfect fire logically
I’ll trust you madly if you’ll keep your secrecy

when we walk in the dark I hear wolves around us
would you let them through the kitchendoor?
if you try to satisfy them with a taste
they’ll only hunt you down for more

did I see something or was it nothing?
just a flicker that’s already gone
did you see something, something or nothing?
would you mind if we turned the lights on?
did I see something or was it nothing?
give me a sign to prove me wrong
did you see something, something or nothing?
I need a push or pull to move along

the chase sometimes is sweeter than the catch
milk and honey every day and the angels gets lazy and fat
what I mean to say is that I love you, practically
I keep you always in mind no matter who I see

when we lie in your bed there’s a ghost between us
and a double voice when we talk
I don’t kow how much longer we can hide
the second shadows everywhere we walk

and if that was not enough, here comes the next reason to really love this band:

WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE
there are no words left for my absolutely favourite band right now. WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE - thos four words are like magic to my ears. enjoy.

and if you don´t love them now, we just can´t be friends...

i’ve got monkeys in my dreams reaching up to pull rainbows to the ground//

it´s april and april is "konzertmonat". right. that explains the lack of posting. but now i have a lot of work to do, catching up with all the reviews i´ve missed giving.

so let´s start from the beginning.

april 1st:
the months started with a battle. teenbeatclub vs. der gute club. guess who did win ;-)
ELEKTRIK KEZY MEZY

MEAN POPPA LEAN

april 2nd:
SHOUT OUT LOUDS
live at radiokulturhaus, playing a fm4 radio session. this concert would need at least three posts, better 300 posts, to act up to the importance that this band has for me. every single one of their albums is connected closely with a time in my life. if there is any band that i would call "my" band, it would be them...

seeing them play again, after such a long time, it was like flipping through a book full of memories. thank you so much.

april 6th:
PILOTS

SWEET SWEET MOON

april 8th:
THOSE DANCING DAYS

april 9th / 11th:
DESTROY, MUNICH

april 12th:
DIVER

april 14th:
GARISH

april 16th:
MUMFORD & SONS

april 21st:
EAGLE SEAGULL

april 22nd:
DECKCHAIR ORANGE

and there is one week left in april. hah!

of course i´ll be alright, i just had a bad night//

today is NADA SURF day. so i´ll take some time to remember my all time favourites. heres a little list...

3. "the way you wear your head"

don´t push me, cause i´ll fall in love
with whatever you just said
don´t push me, cause i´ll fall in love
with the way you wear your head

2. "inside of love"

I know the last page so well
I can't read the first
so i just don't start
it's getting worse

1. "if you leave"
my absolute favourite. not even one of the cheesiest but at the same time most beautiful lovesongs, but my favourite o.c. scene ever, as well.

and here comes the tears...
if you leave, don't leave now
please don't take my heart away
promise me just one more night
then we'll go our separate ways
we always had time on our sides
now it's fading fast
every second every moment
we've gotta make it last

I touch you once, I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
you always said we'd still be friends someday

if you leave, I won't cry
I won't waste a single day
but if you leave, don't look back
I'll be running the other way
seven years went under the bridge
like time was standing still
heaven knows what happens now
you've gotta say you will

I touch you once, I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price

he walked down a bussy street, staring solely at his feet//

clutching pictures of past lovers at
his side.

stood at his table where she sat,
and removed his hat
in respect of her presence.

presents her with the pictures and says,
'these are just ghosts that broke my
heart before I met you.
'these are just ghosts that broke my
heart before I met you.'

opened up his little heart,
unlocked the lock that kept it dark
and read a written warning saying
'I'm still mourning,
over ghosts, over ghosts, over ghosts
over ghosts that broke my heart
before I met you.'

lover please,
do not fall to you knees,
it's not like I belive in,
ever-lasting love.

so he went crazy at nineteen,
said he'd lost all his self-esteem
and couldn't understand why he
was cry, cry, crying, crying.

he would stare at empty chairs
think of the ghosts that once sat there:
the ghosts that broke his heart,
oh the ghosts that broke my heart,
the ghosts that broke his heart,
oh the ghosts that broke my heart.

the ghosts, the ghosts, the ghosts, the ghosts,
the ghosts that broke my heart
before I met you.

lover please,
do not fall to you knees,
it's not like I belive in,
ever-lasting love.

he says 'I'm so lost,
not at all well.'

do as done after there was nothing left to be
well, turned out I'd been following him
and he'd been following me.
do as done after it was over
we were just two lovers crying on
each other's shoulder

well I fell into the water, now I’m free//

i don´t wanna turn my little blog into one of those fashionblogs but a little post here and there can´t be wrong, huh?

so here one more post about fashion. haha. but anyways, i wanna share a picture i found at some other blog in the last weeks. man, is she beautiful.

but my chances turned to toast when I asked her if I could call her your name//

it was too loud for me to hear her speak and she had a broken arm
it was close, so close that the walls were wet
and she wrote it out in letraset
"no, you can't call me her name"

look at those gorgeous CHANEL clogs. i´d love to wear them with grey or mauve overknees all day every day...

put on your leafmask and let the fire die//

i wasn´t recognizing, how long i´ve been away and how many things, that are worth writing about them, have happened in the meantime. well, there was another concert i have to share. SEABEAR from iceland.

i´d always loved iceland. since i was a little girl and my best friend was a pony from iceland, i dreamt about going there. well my trip to iceland is still some months away, but some of iceland came to visit vienna...
the great and amazing SEABEAR. their singer is the well known, well, you can say, iconic musician SINDRI MÁR SIGFÚSSON and his soloproject SIN FANG BOUS is probably better known than SEABERA yet. i see a bright and golden future for "icelands answer to fleetwood mac" how they describe theirselves. oh, how i look forward to go to iceland...

when the birds are sleeping
that's when the trees sing
you left your winter clothes,
and your teeth marks in my skin

so shake the leaves, off the trees,
watch them float down the stream
your son, your daughter
swimming in the water

and I miss you, even when you're around
I'm a black cloud,
sending lightning to the ground

btw. SINDRI MÁR SIGFÚSSON is the new man of my dreams.

in this old house I'm not alone//

and there was another great concert in london: GRIZZLY BEAR.

those guys were great, but they didn´t make my heart beat like NOAH AND THE WHALE or my soul melt like MUMFORD & SONS.

but one song really made me love them - their encore: all we ask.

oh tell me now, where was my fault in loving you with my whole heart//

after NOAH AND THE WHALE left the stage, i got myself back into reality, we left the roundhouse for a dicos night at koko. hahaha. well, we got there and right the minute another concert started. we saw two young british bands, probably "the new big thing" but they didn´t really impress me. the last slot was covered by THE VIEW - these cute scotthis guys who sang about their jeans and tried to be like PETE DOHERTY a little too much. i once wanted to see them play in vienna, but they had to cancel the gig, because the singer partied a little too hard...

well, i learned from that night, that you don´t have to feel sorry ever, if a gig is canceld. 1st, you´ll probably get a second chance to see the band play and 2nd it´s most of the time not worth the complaining. maybe you would have been better off, never seeing them play.

so, i skip this concerts and talk about the next really amazing concert that i was able to be a part of in london. MUMFORD & SONS. oh, how amazing was that?

i think the sheperds bush empire is probably one of the most charming venues i can imagine and the venue really suits MUMFORD & SONS. i think they should have a weeky show there. or even better: a weekly show at one of our beautiful theaters here in vienna? this band belongs into a theater with red curtains and balconys from which you can watch those guys play their music. there can be nothing more beautiful, exciting and overwhelming to be played on a theater stage than MUMFORD & SONS songs. they made me forget everything around me and i caught myself smiling the biggest smile ever, having some little tears runing down my cheeks and goosebumps all over my body. oh, i feel it again, just writing about it. intense.

rip the earth in two with your mind
seal the urge which ensues with brass wires
I never meant you any harm
but your tears feel warm as they fall on my forearm

but close my eyes for a while
force from the world a patient smile

how can you say that your truth is better than ours?
shoulder to shoulder, now brother, we carry no arms
the blind man sleeps in the doorway, his home
if only I had an enemy bigger than my apathy I could have won

but I gave you all

and i don´t say that often: believe the hype!

so walk with me on this new spring morning, I'll walk you 'till your fears are none//

it´s been two weeks now, but i spent the most beautiful weekend ever in london. the reason i went there in the first place was to see some concerts. well, not any concerts, it has been my most favourite bands: NOAH AND THE WHALE and MUMFORD & SONS.

i was really excited, seeing them both play for the first time ever, twon days in a row. reminded me a little bit at my ACTIC MONLEYS and THE KOOKS concerts last year, that made me start this blog.

well, long story short - it was worth the travelling.

NOAH AND THE WHALE played at the sold out roundhouse. already the statge set-up made me wanna fall on my knees. there where about 20 granny like lamps standing all over the stage, promising the best light that can be there on a stage. and well, the light created an amazing atmosphere, making me feel like beeing alone with NOAH AND THE WHALE in my livingroom. hahaha.

here is a live-video from this night.

you can give up anything when you're following your heart
I never had the time to show I could depart
with my whole being, go back to the start
oh I promised more in vows then I ever give with my heart
but I'll be lonely
oh again

broken hearts are a fickle thing and complicated too
I thought I believed in love but I've never seen it through
oh I didn't marry the girl I loved
I saw my world cave in, felt like giving up
but I'll be laughing
oh again

I've been looking for hope these days
but loves not finding me
but now my hearts been broken there is nothing you can do
I'm impenetrable to pain
oh, you can break my broken heart
oh no, you can break my broken heart

i loved NOAH AND THE WHALE from the first day on. i felt like i found a treasure, when i heard the shape of my heart for the first time. it´s all about broken hearts and sadness. oh, how i know those feelings. i liked the irony they had in their sad songs at the first album peaceful the world lays me down and i was a little shocked that they lost their ironic twinkles at the first day of spring. well, but i know those scars and i know how it feels to be heartbroken again. so wthf, be heartbroken and sing it out loud. at least i know, i am not alone in this. and hey, charlie is a good company in beeing heartbroken.

so here we go again, one more sad song from the roundhouse:

the concert just made me love the band more and more. they are amazing musicians and as i see it now, the first days of spring is a masterpiece. thousand times better than their debut. what i could never imagine to be possible at all. so i´m looking forward to everything thats coming up from NOAH AND THE WHALE. i´ll travel the world to see them play again. and again. and again.

lover, please do not fall to your knees//

c. miumiu

i´m so much into the new shoes, like i haven´t been ever before, this spring. i love the CHANEL clogs and MIU MIUs platforms. it´s breaking my heart that i can´t afford at least one pair of those beautifuk shoes...

so heres some eyecandy from MIU MIU. how glittery and lovely can a shoe be?

c. miumiu & ytligheter

i think it´s the most discussed, most loved and mots hated shoe right now. but what can i say, i love them. hahaha. and ALEXA CHUNG seems to be really in love with them, too.

better run like hell when you hit the ground//

I try but you see, it's hard to explain//

I missed the last bus, I'll take the next train
I try but you see, it's hard to explain
I say the right things, but act the wrong way
I like it right here, but I cannot stay
I watch the TV, forget what I'm told
well, I am too young, and they are too old
the joke is on you, this place is a zoo
"you're right it's true"

I don’t know if you’ve got somebody waiting...//

i bet that someone like you, someone like you
could have them waiting for hours

TURBOWEEKEND.

oh, if I could change the world I would//

WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE :: greys and blues

pick up your tears and run//

through the town our horror walk
we do that dance on death repeat
it did me great just knowing you were out there
gave me faith to outshine this cold cover

some might say there’s other fish in the sea//

will it fall apart
as we emphasize the fact
some things are just meant to go wrong
will it break when our time is through?

visions caught up inside my head

life is full of wonderful problems//

after all, there´s no one to blame//

spend my nights and days before, searching the world for what is right here//

quelle: saralovespolaroids

there's a glass of milk in an empty room//

role with me!

we can take a walk now down to the beach, the sun will be shining when we're finally free//

wake up, it's a beautiful morning
honey, while the stars are still shining
wake up, would you like to go with me
honey, take a run down to the beach

your face reflects the light of the moon//
